Janet's Biog

Janet A. McLeod has been a fixture of the Melbourne comedy scene for twenty odd years, working both onstage as well as behind the scenes with equal success and enthusiasm.

Janet is renowned for her work as a comedy programmer and curator of comedy events. She is also hosts regular trivia nights around Melbourne and runs the very popular weekly comedy room Local Laughs - Monday nights (8.30pm)at The Local Taphouse in St Kilda East (184 Carlisle St).
Janet can be heard once a fortnight on ABC Local Radio's Overnights With Trevor Chappell. Other radio credits include seven years co-hosting 3RRR's flagship comedy show The Cheese Shop alongside the late, great Dave Taranto). She has also been an occassional guest/special correspondent for Triple J and Radio 5 Live, London, and was the Australian correspondent for SAfm South Africa's Bruce Millar Show for nine years.

Janet has produced shows at the Adelaide Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Glen Eira Storytelling Festival, and has also been Associate Producer for the Hobart Comedy Festival and Festival Director of the Harp Village Comedy Festival. She has also produced a myriad of shows under the Great BIG Comedy Night and Comedy Gold banners, and was an originator and co-host of Quiz Internationale - Melbourne's most popular and longest running live comedy trivia night - as well as Cinema Fiasco - Australia's premier movie comedy commentary duo.

Other regular comedy events include Janet as producer and resident host of Planet Comedy - a weekly stand up comedy night at The Prince Patrick Hotel in Collingwood, and producer and techno wiz for Comedy @ Vibe on Smith St - Melbourne's most cutting edge multi-media weekly stand-up night.

Janet is not married, has no pets or children and shares her flat with far too many toys for one adult to own.

Every Monday night The Local Taphouse (184 Carlisle St, St Kilda East) plays host to the longest running single-operator comedy night in Melbourne/Australia. Doors open 7.30pm for an 8.30pm show.
